In the ATLAS assembly hall during the visit of the Brazilian Minister of State for Science and Technology, Ronaldo Mota Sardenberg, holding one of the trigger electronics boards. On that occasion Brazil and CERN expressed interest in establishing closer links: the Minister and CERN Director-General Luciano Maiani issued a joint statement supporting the long-term continuation of the cooperation agreement first established in 1990, and agreed that Brazilian participation in the Large Hadron Collider should be strengthened.
